trading summer’s oppressive heat for that refreshingly cool breeze against your skin…
and the smell of autumn chilliness…
of damp leaves being burned late in the evening…
I ♥ fall staff retreat…
especially when it’s in Big Bear…
and Huey Lewis blasts through the car speakers as we head up the mountain
(not to be confused with Dan’s rap music)…
18 friends, 1 enormous cabin…
the melody of strumming guitars held steady by the djembe…
and the chatter of friends stretching into the night…
sporting scarves and beanies to breakfast…
and a sunny afternoon softball tournament in the crisp mountain air…
the smell of smoke rising from chimneys as the sun quietly turns in…
the wonderful blessing of friendship…
