Daily Tide 4.8 = Re-purposing :)
I had no real game plan when this lil DIY began…
Just a bunch of bottles awaiting a trip to the recycling center…
At first I was going to make a spring centerpiece for our dining room table…
Till my next thought ->perhaps with chalkboard paint the bottles could be used as place setting markers, since the chalkboard paint makes them both writable and erasable…
But then I simply picked my favorites from the bunch and used them to “spring-ify” a little corner of our kitchen…
The bottles pre-makeover…
And after they were each given two coats of white chalkboard paint and a few accessories made from extra tid bits of this and that I had lying around the house...
They still may make their way to the dining room because I like the idea of being able to write our guest’s names on them for a lil personal touch…
But for now, here they sit!
Daily Tide 4.7 = ♥ A Day with Nanna
We had SO much fun spending the day with our 84 year old Nanna! Time with her is precious; I just luv soaking up her wisdom!
Daily Tide 4.3 = Motorcycle Adventures
Twice we drug our friend out in the rain to test drive motorcycles…
Last Saturday he drove our new, shiny hunk of metal into the garage…
Pep Boys was our very next stop…
Follow by a trip to the motorsports store…
SIX HOURS later…
We emerge with helmets (which makes me feel like a NASA astronaut), jackets, gloves, auto parts and a receipt from their special order counter…
Later that night, after Matt successfully changed the battery, I swung my leg over and tried to back it out…
Three steps later -> BAM…
I found myself wedged under four hundred pounds of metal…
And questioning whether Matt was more concerned for the bike or my bruised leg… (lol J)
Matt takes the bike for a spin…
It he can do it I can…
Scared to death, I putz down the street in first with Matt walking beside me the entire way…
Sunday afternoon, Matt is determined to change the oil…
After helping him clean up what spilt all over our garage, I putz out of the neighborhood in second…
Baby steps people… J
Monday, Matt passes his permit test…
I repeat the above procedure on Tuesday…
On Wednesday, I venture to ride over to the parents…
But I got stuck at the first stop-light I came too because, apparently, I’m not heavy enough to set off the sensor…
Eventually I gave up on waiting, dismounted the bike, ran over to the sidewalk and pressed the crosswalk button…
Unfortunately, I still didn’t make the light because I forgot to put the bike in first…
Eventually I did get going…
And started sweating every time a car came into sight…
Thinking "footbrake, handbrake, clutch, gear, blinker, dumb purchase"…
But coming home…
With an empty lane ahead…
And the bike zooming easily towards an extraordinary sunset…
The sound of the throaty exhaust…
The purr of the motor…
The wind rushing past…
Leaning into the turns…
The weightless, soaring feeling as the bike crests that last hill before our neighborhood…
J J J J J
Matt put rear foot-pedals on the bike yesterday…
It’s a literal BLAST back there…
