9.23 Life With Harper Part 5

FRIDAY
Off to Harper's first checkup :)
I wonder how much it cost for the doctor to tell us what I already knew...
This little one is practically perfect in every way :)

Afterwards, we hit up Target. I decided to steal the stroller away and walk Harper up and down the aisles all by my lonesome.  Side-note: it’s amazing how many people start talking to you when you are pushing around a beautiful baby. One lady was oohing and ahhing (perfectly understandable) over baby Harper when she asked, “How old is she?”
I told the lady Harper was four days old.
She gasped, looked at me and said, “Wow you look fantastic. You’re doing so well. You’re so brave.”
And I said, “Thank you!”
LOL

Today we also ventured to snap a few family pictures. Here’s a few. (BTW: this is my very first attempt at Photoshop—I have a lllooonnnggg ways to go)

Beautiful family!

And a few with Grandma too :)

9.22 Life With Harper Part 4

THURSDAY
Mr. Jeffery works nights.  Now his afternoon naps look like this...
We all just can't get enough of Ms. Harper Dean
cuddle & stare = pretty much all we do these days
Especially Grandma...

She's a bundle of joy, a miracle; she lights up our world...

Today LOTS of friends came for a visit...

Now it seems that there are lots of “firsts” when it comes to your first baby--some easier than others.
But with uncertainty and anxiety comes adventure and surprises.

This evening Harper got her first bath at home.
She totally rocked it!

It may have helped that mommy is a pro at all things hair...

Harper is SO sweet! Thus far, she has been a pretty easy baby. I’m hoping she gets her parent’s kind, laid-back, FUN dispositions :)

9.22 Life With Harper Part 3

WED 2am
We told sissy to text us if she needed us at any point during the night…
@ 2am we looked at our phones; no text, but Harper was not happy about something…
So I plunked my way down the stairs…
Not that I knew what to do…
But my heart went out to my sister; she had to be more tired than I...
I could at least do whatever she said to do…
Turns out sissy stinks at swaddling…
We would rock little Harper till her eyelids drooped shut and put her to bed no problem…
But then she would wiggle a bit and kick her way out of our poor attempt at swaddling…
Which left her not-happy and us staring at each other with sleepy eyes…
By-the-way, I also stink at swaddling…
So we came up with a little invention using what we had on hand…
1 onesie +2 mittins +2 sockies+ this garment that sissy had for a 9month old that zipped up the front…
First we put Harper in her onesie, mittins and socks…
Then we placed her inside of said zip-up garment and zipped her up…
Finally, we tied the sleeves of the zip-up garment around baby…
And…
The Leland-Mueller version of swaddle = SUCCESS!
Harper slept till we woke her up five hours later the next morning!
:)

I did not reach for my camera @ 2am… but here are more pictures because I just can’t get enough of her…
Admit it, you can’t either…
