Matt's Corner

Harper @ 6 Months!

Stay like this forever please.

Ms. Harper, I ♥ ♥ ♥ you!

& your super-duper eyelashes...

& it looks like I'm not the only one who loves you...

everything is more fun with you...
but "everything" does not include the movie theater...

shine on girlfriend, shine on...

How does this much personality squeeze itself into someone so small... ?!?

DIY Outdoor Lighting

80/365:
on a roll friends, so on a roll…

feeling a bit wired to create…
using bits of this and that, found lolling about the place…

this, our new porch lighting, was practically free…
step one: save a few old jam jars and things of the sort…

minus them of their labels…

add desired amount of sand…

toss in a candle…

& there you have it, instant outdoor lighting for us, at dusk, out here on our new front porch…

Spring

79/365:

tomorrow it’s officially “The First Day of Spring”
count me in… yes, we’re all about that…
spring “cleaning” the baseboards & wainscoting…
via a fresh coat of white paint…
due, muchly, to the fact that I’d rather paint than scrub… ;)

my reward?
this purdy new lady…

inhale… exhale…
spring...
the longer days of spring and summer are just ahead…
yea buddy…

Last Weekend

77/365: Saturday {ramble alert}

pouring rain and gusty winds stirred me awake afore my alarm ever had the chance…

I’m a fan of raining mornings…
I quite like them…

he made me smile this morning when he sent me this picture…
because we’ve been there, in Westwood, together, once before…
“just friends” at the time…

but were the Mister and I ever really just friends?
I think not…
you could call it whatever you like…
but from day one, we were drawn, like magnets, to each other…

still are…

so today, as he was there on business, this picture made me smile…
it was one of the first places we ever went together…

my first and only memory of boba…
he bought me a drink and I, unknowingly, took a sip…
some slimy chunk came up the straw and I about puked it up all over the table…

a memory to smile at…
oh and yes, I'm ready for the Mister to be back home this evening…

this morning’s pounding rain did, finally, reduce itself to a drizzle…
& I seized the day’s one and only opportunity to squeeze in a late morning run…
quite rewarding…
fresh, crisp air…
the smell of fire burning in the neighbor’s chimneys…
fascinated by the colors of a rainy day…
the way stormy weather manufactures brilliant contrast…
wet tarmac and soaked tree trunks,
juxtaposed against soft white flowers in bloom…
wispy, grey clouds moving quickly, just about the tree tops,
striking immovable, sodden foothills of deep green…

and then :) the Mister was home (insert happy dance)
a present for me in tow…

does he know me, or does he know me???

78/365: a Sunday in the life

awaking to the sound of rain on the roof
Mark 3
lovely lunch date with my man
item scored off the pottery barn clearance shelf
John Carter Imax 3d
musical art--we moved the infamous black beauty to a more prominent location & added these guys to the master bedroom

& there you have it, a Sunday in the life...

Girlie & Lovely & Happy...

76/365:
pre-dawn spin class…

grey marine-layer morning…

scalding-hot shower + a bowl of steaming oatmeal…
8am NAP :) indulgence...
(because the Mister was still away on business & I could stay up late getting all of the day's to-do's crossed off the list)...

10am sunshine…
3/5 of today’s tasks got checked off the day-planner…

& then I got distracted with beads…

you see, these 3 bracelets were in the “fix-me” pile…

they've been waiting for new life for quite some time...

& what started as 3, became 6…

+ 2 pairs of earrings…

& it didn’t cost me a dime…

mostly because I used broken bits...
and also
because I disassembled bits of old prom jewelry that me & high-school BFF made way back in the prom days...

I like me some bracelet and bangle layering...

a bit of jangle and jingle...

girlie & lovely & happy...

Thursday, 7-9pm

75/365:
2 hours, 6 stores :)

because the Mister is away on business tonight :(
SO glad this is a super short trip for him :) :) :)

JOY

74/365:

this is my kind of “crafting”…

only 2 items needed: wooden letters & yarn…

zero talent required… if I can do it, you can too... ;)

“… In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” –Psalm 16:11

Project 365, March 12th-13th

72/365:
pottering about on a sun-warmed porch this morning…
perfect weather to introduce a generous lot of spring flowers to their new forever-home on our front entranceway…

it isn’t finished…
but we’re on our way…
to a place that invites us to sink in and have a toe-up, as we come in from the day…

tonight, after yummy $1 fish tacos, we did just that…
he and I, and the doggie…
he, in his fuzzy billabong hoodie…
me, with my teal beanie and furry boots
two steaming mugs of tea in hand…

content to watch the sun set duskily behind the horizon...

73/365: Impromptu Dinner / @ RMG

Project 365, March 9th-11th

69/365:
The sun is shining, a warm spring breeze gently billowing through open windows…
& Matt’s car is back in the garage…
all is well ;)

70/365: Saturday ♥
I love it when my hubby is home with me in the mornings…

Especially when they are the unhurried kind :)

71/365: Pedaling to Get Down the Hill
A cloudy and overcast morning gave way to a gloriously sunny, spring afternoon…  Rendering today a splendid day for Coastal Conquest training ride #2 and a superb opportunity to practice riding into an offshore breeze that was quite feisty…

That was us out there today, pedaling to get down the hill
That was me out there, downshifting in order to cycle down Whitewood…

Oh and, yes, that was also us out there eating our (much-earned) yummy, post-ride Mexican food :)

Whataday / Thankful

68/365:
As I sat with my morning coffee, considering James’s exhortation to be patient in trials, my hubby kissed me goodbye headed to work.

Seven minutes later this happened…

Then, thanks to my wonderful/amazing friend’s roadside assistance package, this happened…

There she goes... in all her glory…

Afterwards, amazing-roadside-assistance-friend and I took another friend some happy birthday flowers… :)

Then, just as I was about to dive into an after lunch project, my mother-in-law called to see if I could possibly bring by her spare key as she had mistakenly locked herself out of the house and her hubby was out of town.
Slight problem… her key was tucked safely away in my truck (not the problem), but the truck was currently in San Diego with Matt (problem).
However, mom did have one window that happened to be unlocked; it was approximately 7x16 inches… :/
I said I’d give it a whirl.

Sadly, as I was pulling the motorcycle out of the garage my foot slipped on the epoxy and the bike crashed on top of me and this happened…

Thankfully, my neighbor was able to help me get the bike upright again…
Mom was not joking about the size of the window...

I had to go in feet first because the window was up so high…
And this little operation may have required a giant ladder and some strange acrobatics…
BUT we did have success (eventually)!!!

Despite the day, my heart remained thankful….
Thankful that Matt was safe, thankful that he was still able to make it to his cases on time, thankful for a friend who dropped everything to rescue me, thankful for roadside assistance, thankful that the car could be fixed, thankful to have friends birthday’s to celebrate, thankful for camera phones, thankful the motorcycle tipped over in the garage and not in the street, thankful for an open window to crawl through, thankful for the Word of God that lights our path…

But I just may avoid studying all passages on trials for the rest of my life… jk ;)
